Rootlings, Where the Next Gen of Wine Industry Gathers

If you're a young professional in the wine world, you know the struggle is real. You're trying to grow your career, but sometimes it feels like you're just vibing alone. That's where we come in. Rootlings is a community created by young wine professionals, for young wine professionals. We're all about giving you the tools and the squad you need to thrive.

We've got the tea on everything from career development to technical skills, and we're dropping knowledge through our Growing Season online sessions. Wanna network without the awkward small talk? Our Happy Hour chats let you chill with industry icons in a super casual, no-stress zone. Plus, our State and Regional Chapters and In-Region Events are perfect for connecting with your local wine fam, sharing knowledge, and just having a good time.

Rootlings is funded by Wine Australia and the Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology (ASVO), so you know it's legit. Rootlings started with a successful pilot in NSW back in 2023, and it was such a hit that we had to take it national. Now, we're building a network across the country, and the energy is unmatched.

So, if you're ready to level up your career and connect with a community that gets it, you're in the right place.

Why does the Rootlings network exist?

  • Promote and support peer-to-peer support networks focusing on the needs of young people within the wine industry.

  • Encourage and support innovation and profitability through access to professional development opportunities.

  • Amplify the engagement of youth at a regional, state, and national scale

Say hello to Jenna, the Rootlings National Project Officer…

Hey, friends. Whether you are super keen to get involved or just popping by to figure out what this is all about, welcome!

I’m Jenna Vaughan, based out of the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. My background is in wine marketing, and I’m fortunate to be the project officer for the Rootlings network.

Rootlings started in New South Wales in 2023, when Maggie Jarrett had an idea to connect more young people in the wine industry. From there, Maggie turned this idea into a reality, and with support from Wine Australia, the NSW DPIRD, and NSW Wine, launched this community. Due to its enormous success in NSW, Wine Australia, through the ASVO, launched Rootlings nationwide in 2024.

With the help of the awesome State Champions, I’m behind-the-scenes rolling out events and activations in regions, as well as putting together the virtual series like Happy Hour and Growing Season.

I also take care of all the Rootlings' communications, including social media and newsletters. If you have any content to share, please feel free to send it my way!

You can send me an email or funny memes to jenna@asvo.com.au anytime. In true Millennial style, I much prefer a text message over a phone call!
