ABOUT MATT DELLER MW ○
Matthew Deller MW is the CEO of Wirra Wirra and Ashton Hills, two of Australia’s most iconic and admired wineries. A dynamic leader in the global wine industry, he has shaped some of the world’s most respected wine brands, from Napa Valley to McLaren Vale.
Recently featured on the cover of Australia’s Wine Business Magazine, Matt is at the forefront of Wirra Wirra’s legacy and future, stewarding a winery that has stood since 1894.
Deeply passionate about McLaren Vale, he serves on the Board of the McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association and leads the charge for Australian wine exports as Chair of the Export Advisory Committee.
Before Wirra Wirra, Matt spent eight years in the USA, as Chief Operating Officer of TOR, a cult Napa Valley winery, and with the legendary Robert Mondavi Winery. He later became Chief Global Sales & Marketing Officer for Villa Maria, overseeing one of New Zealand’s most recognized wine brands.
As a Master of Wine, Matt’s expertise is internationally recognized. He passed the rigorous MW exams in 2016 and now shapes the future of the profession, serving on the Governance Committee for the Institute of Masters of Wine, the Board of Directors for the MW Endowment Company, and the Program Committee for the MW Symposium in Adelaide 2026.
A sought-after wine judge, Matt brings his sharp palate to the world’s most prestigious competitions, including Decanter World Wine Awards, TEXSOM, the Japan Wine Challenge (2024), and he contributes to the authoritative Wine Pinnacle Awards Singapore, and 2025 Golden Vines® Report.
From steering historic wineries to shaping the global wine conversation, Matt’s influence spans continents, always with an eye on innovation, authenticity, and the pursuit of excellence.
