Rootlings brings together the next generation of the wine industry to understand the challenges ahead, connect with those shaping it today, and play an active role in shaping its future.

The 2026 NSW/ACT Rootlings Conference is a two-day leadership and development experience designed to bring together and nurture the next generation of the Australian wine industry. Hosted in Canberra, the programme combines national-level insights, structured networking sessions, interactive workshops and regional wine visits, creating a space for young professionals to build connections, better understand the evolving industry and consider the role they will play in its future.

Event Details at a Glance:

· When: Monday, the 15th, and Tuesday, the 16th of June

· Where: Canberra

· Who: Around 50 young professionals representing a broad cross-section of the sector, including winemaking, viticulture, marketing, sales, hospitality and trade.

Program Highlights:

· Day One: Focuses on the big picture, exploring the key influences shaping the wine sector, including policy, research, innovation and changing market dynamics. Delegates will also have the opportunity to tour CSIRO and get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the cutting-edge research taking place across the industry.

· Day Two: Shifts the focus to the regional level, as delegates head into the Canberra wine region, including a visit to Four Winds Vineyard. The day will involve a vineyard tour with technical demonstrations, followed by a cellar door tasting and final lunch.

· Having Your Say: Delegates will work together to develop a shared call to action. This will be captured in a next generation position paper. This will be shared with industry organisations to help inform policy, advocacy and future industry direction.
