Pack Your Bags for the Great Southern Field Day!

If you’re 35 or under and working in the Australian wine industry, it’s time to mark your calendar for November 25th and 26th, 2026. The Rootlings Great Southern Field Trip is here, and this two-day development event is set to be our most immersive and inspiring experience yet.

We are heading to one of Western Australia’s most dynamic and expansive wine regions. Designed specifically for our emerging wine industry community, this trip focuses on regional exploration, professional development, and making a sustainable impact. Whether you're dreaming of starting your own label, looking to step up into a leadership role, or wanting to master grassroots marketing, this field day will deliver the tools, connections, and inspiration you need to take the next step.

What to Expect

Over two action-packed days, we’ll be travelling through key locations including Albany, Castle Rock Estate in the Porongurups, and Frankland Estate in Frankland River.

Day 1 kicks off in Albany with "The Big Wine Industry Picture," featuring direct access to presentations and leadership from Wines of WA, Great Southern Wines, and Wine Australia. You'll dive into dedicated career-defining workshops packed with practical insights, and cap off the evening with a casual networking dinner alongside regional industry presidents. (Don't forget to BYO Rootlings wines to showcase!)

Day 2 takes us out into the vines. You'll build deep regional knowledge through a subregional tasting panel and vineyard tour at Castle Rock Estate, followed by a sustainability tour and lunch at Frankland Estate. We’re also bringing in a professional photographer for a dedicated headshot session so you can polish up your portfolio.

Who Should Attend? This event is tailored for new, young, and emerging professionals working in all facets of the wine industry—from viticulture and winemaking to marketing, sales, and hospitality. If you want to accelerate your career, expand your network across the state, and help shape the future of Australian wine, this is for you.
