Syuzanna Mosikyan awarded the University of Adelaide Strategic Collaboration Category

Syuzanna Mosikyan, a Rootlings member from South Australia, received the Strategic Collaboration award from the University of Adelaide. This award acknowledges PhD researchers who effectively strengthen partnerships between the university and its industry or research collaborators.

Several factors contributed to this recognition. Her PhD project, which focuses on consumer acceptance of gene-edited grape varieties, is co-funded by Wine Australia, a key partner of the university. Furthermore, she is currently undertaking an internship with Wine Australia, concentrating on the practical and regulatory dimensions of her research.

In the previous year, Syuzanna was granted a Knowledge Exchange Bursary from Great Wine Capitals and PIRSA. This bursary supported a 50-day research trip to France, Italy, and Germany. During this trip, she visited ten wine regions, engaged with researchers and wine professionals, and presented Australian research on novel grape varieties. Upon her return, she shared the key insights gained with the South Australian wine community.

In 2024, Wine Communicators of Australia also named her Best Wine Student. This recognition was in acknowledgment of the industry impact of her research and the effectiveness of its communication.

Finally, her first academic paper has been published in a high-quality journal. The findings from this research will soon be shared in an industry article to ensure broader accessibility.

Congratulations Syuzanna on this recognition!
